He highlights the sophistication required to mask the malicious intent while correctly identifying personal information, generating a functioning URL, applying markdown syntax, and not alerting the user.

Mistral AI, a company targeted by the research, has responded by quickly updating its systems to prevent such vulnerabilities. The remediation blocks the Markdown renderer from enabling external URL calls, thus impeding potential image data extraction through this route. The company categorized the issue as having “medium severity.”
