In October 2024, Apple unveiled its updated 24-inch iMac through its online newsroom, marking another annual refresh for this beloved all-in-one desktop computer. This latest iteration is equipped with the new M4 chipset from Apple’s M-series lineup. Although the external design remains largely unchanged from its 2021 predecessor, significant internal upgrades promise enhanced performance and new features.

Sleek Design and Updated Features

While the iMac’s elegant design remains untouched, Apple has introduced fresh new color options to continue its tradition of aesthetic appeal. The base model starts at $1,299 and now includes USB-C versions of its peripherals in line with current tech trends. This update comes accompanied by macOS Sequoia 15.1, supporting Apple's AI capabilities termed Apple Intelligence.

Enhanced Hardware

The M4-powered iMac supports new Apple Intelligence features, designed to be more seamless thanks to increased memory capacity. The device retains its 24-inch, 4.5K resolution display paired with a 1080p camera and continues to deliver on audio quality with its six-speaker setup and trio of studio-quality microphones. Port selection is contingent on the configuration, featuring two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the base variant and four on the premium models, plus a Gigabit Ethernet port.

Improved Webcam with Center Stage

Apple has enhanced the 12-megapixel webcam by incorporating Center Stage technology, ensuring users' faces remain centered during video calls—an addition designed to enrich the virtual meeting experience.

Customers are able to preorder the new iMac, with shipping commencing on November 8.
