Analogue, the US-based tech firm, has announced a delay in the release of its much-anticipated N64 console recreation. Initially slated for a 2024 launch, the 'Analogue 3D' will now be available in the first quarter of 2025. Despite the postponement, enthusiasts can rejoice with the release of the first official images and technical details of this retro gaming masterpiece.

Enhanced Gaming Experience

The Analogue 3D is designed to bring Nintendo 64 games to the modern era by supporting resolutions up to 4K. It also features display modes that mimic the classic charm of CRT televisions. Unlike emulation-based systems, the Analogue 3D uses FPGA technology, enabling it to play original N64 cartridges—a nod to purists and retro fans alike.

The console promises compatibility with the full catalog of games released for the original 1996 Nintendo 64, further enticing fans of retro gaming. Physical cartridges slide straight into the console, and you’re off to relive nostalgic memories. Available in sleek black or white finishes, the Analogue 3D is expected to go on pre-sale starting October 21, with availability in European markets as well.

Accessories and Connectivity

For those excited about the tactile experience, it should be noted that the console's price tag of $250 does not include a controller. However, a compatible gamepad designed by 8bitdo is available for $40. While not resembling Nintendo's iconic original N64 controller, this option should serve well for modern gamers.

The Analogue 3D boasts Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, allowing it to update its proprietary 3D OS. Gamers can also connect up to four classic controllers via original slots and enjoy additional connectivity through two USB ports and an SD card slot.

Growing Legacy

Analogue has become a household name among retro gaming enthusiasts, thanks to its previous successes like the Analogue Pocket. Released in 2021, the Pocket can play a variety of Game Boy games and, with additional adapters, supports Game Gear and Atari Lynx titles.

For those who are passionate about reliving the past with modern flair, the Analogue 3D promises to be an exciting addition to your console collection come 2025.
